As the nation marks the mournful first memorial anniversary of the historic youth-led movement, Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) pauses to honor and remember the brave souls who laid down their lives during the Gen Z protests.
PAHS organized a solemn Commemoration and Tribute Program (सम्मान स्मृति कार्यक्रम) to express its deepest condolences for the 45 young lives prematurely lost during the historic Gen Z protests of September 2025 led by Undergraduate Student Society. The memorial ceremony was observed in the distinguished presence of the PAHS executives Vice-Chancellor, Rector, Registrar, Deans, Hospital Director, Assistant Dean, Nursing Director and faculties, staffs, residents, fellows, students etc.
The program commenced with the assembly observing a one-minute silence to honor the ultimate sacrifice of the Gen Z martyrs.
Members of the 16th batch undergraduate students delivered an emotional artistic performance dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of the Gen Z youth. The performance aimed to honor the voices, grief, and strength of the martyrs’ families.
The PAHS declared its profound solidarity with the families, friends, and communities mourning the fallen. Speakers highlighted that these young individuals stepped forward with immense courage, driven by a deep patriotism and a shared vision for a fairer, more equitable future. The assembly noted that their ultimate sacrifice has left an indelible mark on Nepalese society. Though the foundations of ethical governance were written in the blood of these Gen Z martyrs, the institution expressed its collective hope that the democratic principles they fought for remain firmly established for generations to come. The program formally concluded with an address from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nabees Man Singh Pradhan. In remembering the supreme sacrifice made by the Gen Z martyrs, the Vice-Chancellor urged all students, faculty, and medical professionals to honor their legacy by actively contributing to the nation’s progress through their own professional platforms in healthcare and education.
