In a dedicated effort to promote health literacy and proactive wellness the Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) successfully conducted a comprehensive Community Health Action Program which was executed by 2nd-year Master of Nursing (Community Health Nursing) students in the distinguished presence of Prof. Shova Laxmi Bajracharya, Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery at Lalitpur, Afaldol, Ward No. 4, on Bhadra 25, 2083 (September 10, 2026).
The initiative focused primarily on the early detection and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), offering free health screenings to local residents. Students conducted key assessments, including Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations, Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring, and General Random Blood Sugar (GRBS) testing to evaluate metabolic health and identify individuals at risk.
Complementing the clinical screenings, the PAHS nursing team hosted an interactive health awareness exhibition featuring informative, visually engaging posters. The educational display tackled a wide array of vital public health topics:
- Chronic & Non-Communicable Diseases: Management and prevention strategies for Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, and Arthritis.
- Preventive & Infectious Diseases: Early recognition and control measures for Tuberculosis and Dengue.
- Specialized Care & Well-being: Guidance on Geriatric Care, Mental Health awareness, and Family Planning options.
- Emergency Readiness: Essential tips on Disaster Preparedness tailored for community resilience.
The event drew active participation from community members who received personalized counseling based on their screening results and poster discussions. Through this impactful initiative, PAHS M.Sc. Nursing students reinforced their commitment to bridging academic expertise with community service, empowering the residents of Ward No. 4 with actionable health knowledge.
