Overview of workshop
The communication and counselling workshop was held at conference hall, Nick simon block on 20th Feb, 2026. The workshop was formally inaugurated by PAHS Director Prof. Dr. Rabi Shakya and Nursing Director Ms. Shanta Dangol Shrestha. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished persons from administration and management team of PAHS.
The workshop was an engaging and educational event focussed on enhancing the communication and counselling skills of the participants at leadership level. The workshop was aimed to provide valuable insight and practical exercise in effective communication and counselling which are essential skills for personal and professional success.
Objectives of the workshop
- Equip the participants with the knowledge about communication and counselling to improve their abilities and skills.
- Boost participants’ confidence in expressing themselves clearly and articulate in various settings including clinical, interdepartmental, social and organisational.
- Develop participants’ interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills focussing active listening, empathy and effective dialogue.
- Provide techniques for effective counselling following stages of counselling during interaction with client, family and health care provider.
Activities of the workshop
After the formal opening ceremony was over, the session started with the introduction, purpose, principles about communication and counselling. Participants were explained about communication and counselling methods as well as the processes of effective communication. They were also encouraged to practise ISBAR tool and focus on foundational elements like active listening, clarity in speech, non verbal cues, understanding the barriers of communication and the ways to overcome it. Importance was laid on the ways of how an individual communicates (spoken word, visuals, written word, body language and social media). Similarly during counselling session, participants learned to follow the stages of counselling which may be applicable in their day to day workplace challenges.
After lunch, group discussions and role plays regarding effective communication and counselling skills were conducted allowing participants to apply what they learned.
Conclusion The workshop was highly informative worthwhile event for the participants. It equipped participants with the tools and knowledge needed to enhance communication and counselling skills. The blend of interactive group activities, foundational lessons, and practical role playing sessions made the concepts easy to understand and apply. The workshop successfully achieved the objectives of communication and counselling among the participants. The workshop came to an end after all the participants and speakers were awarded certificates by Nursing Director. It was formally concluded following inspiring words and appreciation of the workshop from Nursing Director Ms. Shanta Dangol Shrestha.
