
A Continuing Nursing and Midwifery Education (CNME) program on “Obstetric Cholestasis” was organized by Patan Academy of Health Sciences at the Conference Hall of Patan Hospital on Monday, 2083/06/12, at 8am, as part of the Leadership and Management Practicum curriculum. The program was facilitated by the BMS 3rd Year, 3rd Batch, 2nd Group students Amrita Tamang, Kritika Khadka, Puja Karki, Puja Singh, Sabu Bantha and Shova Shrestha.
The program brought together 39 key healthcare professionals, including the Nursing Director, Assistant Nursing Directors, Nursing Supervisors, academic faculty, and frontline nursing staff. The diverse participation fostered a highly collaborative learning environment, encouraging the active exchange of clinical expertise and practical bedside experiences.
Designed to enhance maternal and fetal health outcomes, the session covered essential clinical dimensions of obstetric cholestasis, including:
- Etiology & Risk Factors: Pathophysiology, genetic predispositions, and clinical presentations.
- Diagnostic Protocols: Timely clinical evaluation, differential diagnosis, and laboratory assessments.
- Complication Management: Mitigating critical risks associated with maternal distress and fetal mortality.
- Nursing & Midwifery Care: Guidelines for continuous maternal-fetal monitoring, timely intervention, and compassionate, evidence-based care delivery.
By reinforcing early assessment protocols and standardization of care, the initiative underscores PAHS’s commitment to continuous professional development and high-quality maternal-neonatal healthcare delivery.
