Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) organized two days comprehensive training session on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for the representatives of various departments of the hospital on September 20-21, 2026.
As part of PAHS’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and healthy environment for patients, healthcare workers, and institutional stakeholders, the training focused on delivering evidence-based practices and standard protocols designed to mitigate healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
The training was concluded in the presence of Nursing Director Rachana Shakya and was facilitated by Rachana Shrestha, Urmila Singh, and Keshari Dangol. The training emphasized key strategies to enhance hospital safety and streamline infection containment protocols:
- Healthcare Waste Management: Standard procedures for the segregation, handling, and safe disposal of medical waste.
- Sterilization and Disinfection Principles: Key guidelines for maintaining sterile environments and equipment integrity.
- Sources and Transmission Pathways: Identification of major sources and mechanisms of transmission of infection within hospital settings.
- Infection Reduction Strategies: Practical intervention protocols to minimize cross-contamination and institutional risk.
- Stakeholder Impact: Assessment of how healthcare-associated infections affect patients, medical staff, visitors, and the broader community.
Through continuous training programs like this, PAHS reinforces institutional compliance with global hygiene standards, ensuring that newly on-boarding medical professionals are fully equipped to maintain a secure healthcare environment.
